No Deputy Left Behind

Because of busy daily lives, it is sometimes difficult to keep close tabs on coworkers who find themselves away from work due to medical or other issues. This can make for unsettling times for the deputy who is temporarily on the outside looking in.

To prevent members from falling through the cracks during the times when they may need our support most, the DSA has created the No Deputy Left Behind program.

Sergeant Lance Delbridge, DSA rep from Santa Rita Jail, heads up the program. He is assisted by DSA Administrative Assistant Kristin Doctor. Through word of mouth, Delbridge and Doctor have collected names of members who are on extended leave and plugged them into an Outlook-style database. Each month, Delbridge contacts the members on the list to check on their welfare and needs.

"Our members who are out on leave have been genuinely happy to hear from us," Delbridge said. "Also, it is great source of information for the DSA to hear what our members are going through."

If you know of someone who is out on leave who you believe could benefit from the program, please call Kristen Rodriguez at DSA Headquarters, (925) 463-3760.

Mastagni Firm Offers Full Service - Every first & third Tuesday between 10 am - 2 pm at DSA.

Navigating the waters of the worker's compensation process can be tricky with an attorney and downright perilous without one. The process is heartless, and claims adjusters are at least as interested in saving a buck as they are about the welfare of the injured worker.

To better assist DSA members keep their heads above water, the Mastagni law firm has stationed one of its worker's comp attorneys, Ryan Siemantel, at DSA Headquarters the first and third Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. DSA members are welcome to drop in and consult with Siemantel at no cost.

The firm Mastagni, Holstedt, Amick, Miller, Johnsen & Uhrhammer has represented the DSA in negotiations, labor-management and internal affairs matters for six years. The firm also boasts aggressive criminal defense, worker's compensation and civil litigation units. Attorneys from each arena spoke at the DSA Board of Directors meeting in July.

"DSA members have really benefited from Mastagni's quality representation in IAs and other administrative matters," DSA Treasurer Jon Rudolph said. "It's great to know attorneys from the firm will be accessible to our members for their other legal needs."

To make an appointment to meet with Siemantel, call Kristen at DSA Headquarters, (925) 463-3760.
